Aug 30, 2024
Adeolu Adeboye, the son of Pastor Enoch Adeboye, General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), has taken legal action against the Kaduna State Government and the State House of Assembly to prevent his arrest and detention. The lawsuit stems from allegations related to an abandoned road construction project valued at N8 billion, which Adeolu secured under the administration of former Governor Nasir El- Rufai.
The controversy surrounds a contract awarded to Ronchess Global Resources Plc, a company linked to Adeolu Adeboye and his wife. The contract, which was part of the infrastructural development efforts during El- Rufai' s tenure, involved the construction of an 8- kilometer road in Zaria, Kaduna State. The total value of the contract was N17. 26 billion, of which N8 billion was disbursed to Ronchess Global Resources. However, it has been alleged that only 30 percent of the project was completed, leaving the road unfinished and the funds unaccounted for.

The situation escalated when the Kaduna State Government and the State House of Assembly initiated a probe into the matter, focusing on the alleged misappropriation of funds. This development prompted Adeolu Adeboye to file a suit at the Federal High Court in Lagos, seeking to restrain the government and the Assembly from arresting or detaining him in connection with the abandoned project.
