"No, Ntlogeleng lona (leave me alone),' says Mboro.": Pastor Mboro Stuns Courtroom
Sep 3, 2024
Pastor Paseka Motsoeneng, widely known as Pastor Mboro, made a bold move in the Palm Ridge magistrate's court on Monday. Despite his lawyer's advice to remain silent, Mboro spoke out, insisting that his detainment is due to his popularity rather than his actions.
Mboro faces serious charges, including kidnapping and possession of a dangerous weapon, after a controversial incident in August. During this incident, Mboro was filmed entering Matshediso Primary School with an armed entourage, causing a nationwide uproar. The footage showed his bodyguard, Clement Camillot Baloyi, frightening students and carrying two crying children, who were reportedly Mboro’s grandchildren.
In his court appearance, Mboro was adamant that his faith would see him through these challenges. "I am trusting God. God is good and the truth will always prevail," he declared. His lawyer had advised him to wait for the court to reconsider his bail request based on new evidence. However, Mboro chose to speak out, saying, "No, ntlogeleng lona (leave me alone)."
Mboro’s son, whose identity is protected for privacy reasons, was also involved in the incident but was released on warning. The magistrate, Katlego Mokoena, criticized the state for errors in its affidavit, which affected the trio's bail application. Despite these setbacks, Mboro remains hopeful, claiming that his faith has already performed wonders, even in the holding cells. "God has done wonders. People have given up drugs," he said.
