As economic hardship deepens in Nigeria following the inauguration of President Bola Tinubu, prominent clergyman Pastor Adewale Giwa has raised concerns about the direction of the nation. The Senior Pastor of Awaiting The Second Coming of Christ Ministry has warned Nigerians not to expect any substantial relief from Tinubu' s leadership, stating that he is not the " Messiah" the people are hoping for.

The pastor' s remarks come in the wake of widespread dissatisfaction among Nigerians, who have been grappling with rising food prices, inflation, and a worsening economy since Tinubu assumed office. A key contributor to this hardship, according to many analysts, has been the President' s decision to end the fuel subsidy, a move announced during his inaugural speech on May 29, 2023. Tinubu declared the subsidy regime " gone, " which immediately led to a spike in fuel prices, further aggravating the cost of living.

In a statement released to the media, Pastor Giwa expressed his deep concerns, asserting that Tinubu' s presidency offers little hope for Nigeria' s future. " Tinubu is not the Messiah Nigerians are expecting, he is not the one God wants to use in solving the crisis of Nigerians, " the pastor lamented. He added that the current administration is ill- equipped to address the country' s challenges, particularly in terms of insecurity and the economic downturn.
