Shamima Muslim Reveals What She Did After NDC and NPP Approached Her To Join Party
Sep 13, 2024
Shamima Muslim, a prominent figure in Ghanaian media and politics, has recently made headlines with her revelations about being approached by both major political parties in Ghana.
According to a report, Muslim shared her experience during an appearance on Channel One TV's "Point of View" programme.
The journalist-turned-politician disclosed that both the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) had reached out to her, inviting her to join their ranks.
This revelation has sparked interest in political circles, as Muslim is known for her outspoken nature and critical analysis of Ghanaian politics.
When asked about her response to these approaches, Muslim explained that she carefully considered her options before making a decision.
She stated, "I have experienced directly both the NDC and NPP in opposition and in power, and I have come to the considered opinion that the NDC in power and in opposition is more tolerant to criticisms, especially even citizens criticisms and media criticisms."
This statement suggests that Muslim's decision was influenced by her assessment of each party's openness to feedback and criticism.
Muslim went on to elaborate on her reasoning, citing specific examples of what she perceives as intolerance from the current NPP government.
She mentioned, "Today there are 79 reported cases of violation against journalists under the leadership of President Akufo-Addo and Bawumia."
