Another edition of the Champions League is underway, this time with a revamped format that includes more matches. This will allow Europe's top strikers to add to their tally and make the battle for the top scorer in the UEFA Champions League 2024-25 even more intense.

Harry Kane and Kylian Mbappe shared the lead for the Golden Boot last season, with Erling Haaland, Vinicius Jr and Antoine Griezmann following them on the list. They all make up the front line of goalscoring in Europe and we can expect them to be key players again this campaign.

Players such as Julian Alvarez, who now partners Griezmann at Atletico, and Phil Foden, who complements the voracious Haaland at Manchester City, also return. Mohamed Salah's Liverpool will also be in action. Their task will be to add as much as possible to try to succeed Real Madrid, who were crowned champions last season.

For Mbappe, now at Real Madrid, this Champions League is about overcoming the odds, as he can break into the top six of all-time goalscorers ahead of legends such as Thierry Henry, Ruud van Nistelrooy and a still-active Thomas Muller. The same goes for Haaland, who threatens the likes of Del Piero, Neymar, Drogba and Inzaghi.
