The creators of the popular Sincerely Accra Podcast have received their first-ever award.
Kwame Asante Ofori (producer, co-creator) and Joseph Amo Nti (host, co-creator) were named the Spotlight of the Year (Podcast Category) at the 2024 APVA Awards: King of the Game.
The Association of African Podcasters and Voice Artists are the organisers of the African Podcast and Voice Awards (APVA). The first-of-its-kind scheme was launched in April 2022, to celebrate the voices, innovators and stars of the audio industry in Africa. The 2022 virtual event received over 70,000 votes from more than 20 countries on the continent. The 2024 APVA took place on September 27, 28.
“Our legacy award for the Spotlight of the Year, podcast category, honours the podcast that has achieved iconic status, inspiring countless others, and leaving an enduring impact on the industry,” APVA described the category.
The award “to honour exceptional icons in the world of podcasting,” according to the scheme, comes in Sincerely Accra’s 7th year.
Kwame and Joseph “are thriving as podcasters spreading positivity and laughter globally. Their fast-pace podcast captures urban life in Accra, resonating with Ghanaians and international audiences. Through captivating stories and conversations, they are elevating moods and solidifying their mark in the podcasting world,” the APVA noted on social media.
