President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, born on March 24, 1944, is not only a prominent figure in Ghanaian politics but also a proud family man. His public life, shaped by an impressive academic and political career, is well-documented.
After studying Economics at the University of Ghana and Oxford, Akufo-Addo returned to Ghana, where he pursued various roles, including teaching at Accra Academy.
Akufo-Addo’s personal life has also garnered significant attention. After two failed marriages, he found lasting love with Rebecca Akufo-Addo, daughter of esteemed judge Jacob Hackenburg Griffiths-Randolph, who was also the Speaker of Ghana’s Third Republic Parliament.
Their union has remained a beacon of admiration in Ghana, with the couple renewing their vows in 2017 in a private ceremony.
Together, Nana Addo and Rebecca have four children: Gyankroma, Yeboakua, Edwina, and Adriana. Although the careers of his daughters are not widely publicized, they have taken on active roles in their father’s political initiatives, including supporting autism awareness efforts in partnership with Glam African Magazine in 2017.
Nana Addo hails from a prestigious lineage. His father, Edward Akufo-Addo, served as Ghana’s third Chief Justice and non-executive President.
His maternal grandfather, Nana Sir Ofori Atta, was the King of Akyem Abuakwa, further solidifying the family’s historical significance in Ghana’s leadership.
