In a recent engagement with Ghana's arts and tourism sectors, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party's presidential candidate, reaffirmed his dedication to supporting the underprivileged in society. The event, titled "Evening Encounter with the Arts and Tourism Fraternity," took place on October 16, 2024, at the Alisa Hotel in Accra and aimed to foster dialogue and collaboration between the creative arts and tourism industries.
During his address, Bawumia passionately discussed his ongoing initiatives aimed at aiding the needy. He highlighted his roles as the patron of both Leper’s Aid Ghana and Mother Teresa’s Soup Kitchen, emphasizing his commitment to uplifting those less fortunate. "What dey my heart be the people wey dey suffer for the country inside. Ibi en dey my heart," he expressed, illustrating his personal connection to the causes he supports.
Bawumia elaborated on his involvement with Leper’s Aid Ghana, stating, “Me den lepers dey eat together because I dey wan help them.” His dedication extends to helping street children through Mother Teresa’s Soup Kitchen, showcasing his belief that compassion should drive political action. "So my heart dey the street inside. The thing wey I dey do all, I dey do am sake of I wan help the people," he said, emphasizing his genuine desire to improve the lives of those struggling in society.
