NSMQ’s Greatest Contestant Of All Time From OWASS: Meet Paul Azunre, Now a Scientist and Musician

Meet Paul Azunre, an alumnus of Opoku Ware Senior High School (OWASS) who competed in the National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) in 2002 and is considered one of the greatest contestants in NSMQ history.

Paul, along with his fellow OWASS contestant, faced off against the Legon PRESEC team in the Grand Finale, winning with an impressive 85 points.
In 2002, Paul Azunre achieved the highest SAT score in Ghana.
His mother is Russian, and his father is Ghanaian.
Currently, Paul Azunre is an AI researcher and entrepreneur focused on advanced AI and optimization technologies. He is the founder of Algorine, a research lab dedicated to advanced AI and optimization technologies, as well as Ghana NLP, an open-source natural language processing initiative focused on Ghanaian languages.
In addition to his work in technology, he is also a musician, specifically a rapper, performing under the stage name Dr. Pushkin.
Dr. Pushkin attended Opoku Ware School (OWASS) and went on to Swarthmore College in the USA for his undergraduate education, where he earned degrees in Engineering and Economics.
He later obtained a PhD in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
