Kwame A-Plus Reacts As InfoAnalytics Says His Chances Of Going To Parliament Are Very Slim
Oct 30, 2024
Kwame Asare Obeng, popularly known as A-Plus, an independent parliamentary candidate for the Gomoa Central Constituency, has reacted to a recent poll by Global InfoAnalytics, which suggests that independent candidates face significant hurdles in securing seats in Ghana’s Parliament. The poll forecasts a strong performance by the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) and a modest showing for the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).
According to the Global InfoAnalytics survey, the NDC is predicted to win approximately 150 seats, while the NPP is expected to secure around 104 seats. The analysis also indicates that 21 constituencies are considered toss-ups, meaning they are highly competitive and could swing either way. The poll notably states that only one independent candidate is likely to make it to Parliament.
In response to the findings, A-Plus took to his verified Facebook page to express solidarity with his fellow independent candidates across the nation. He extended his best wishes and encouraged them not to be disheartened by the poll’s implications. “I urge you to keep pushing forward,” he stated, emphasizing that the general elections are still over a month away—time he believes can significantly alter the political landscape.
He pointed out the potential for change, asserting that “one month is a long period to cause a major change in politics.” A-Plus encouraged independent candidates to remain hopeful, particularly highlighting the 21 undecided constituencies as opportunities for growth. “The good news is that there are 21 toss-up seats that any candidate could win. Together, we can increase our numbers and move closer to forming a parliamentary caucus,” he wrote.
