Equatorial Guinea Sacks Baltasar Engonga Amidst Scandal; First Lady Breaks Silence
Nov 7, 2024
In a shocking development, Equatorial Guinea’s government has dismissed Baltasar Engonga Edjo, a senior government official, following the release of a leaked sextape allegedly involving him. The incident has stirred significant controversy within the nation, and has attracted widespread media attention. Engonga, who held the position of Minister of State and was known for his influence in the government, is now at the center of a scandal that threatens to overshadow the political landscape of Equatorial Guinea.
The tape, which surfaced on social media in early November, quickly went viral, with many citizens expressing outrage over the alleged behavior of a high-ranking official. While the authenticity of the video has not been confirmed by authorities, it was enough to prompt the government to take swift action, leading to Engonga’s immediate dismissal.
The First Lady of Equatorial Guinea, Constancia Mangue Nsue de Obiang, has also addressed the scandal, breaking her silence in an official statement. She expressed disappointment and emphasized that public officials are held to high standards of moral conduct. “It is disheartening to witness such behavior from those entrusted with the honor of serving our nation,” she said.
“The government will not tolerate actions that compromise the integrity of our leadership.”
