The Nigerian gospel film industry is mourning the loss of one of its prominent figures, Moses Korede Are, popularly known as " Baba Gbenro" from the popular Mount Zion series Abattoir.
The actor' s death was reported by his colleague, Oluwaseun Adejumobi, who posted the sad news on his verified Instagram account Thursday.
Adejumobi wrote, " Heaven' s Gain Again. " A General is no longer alive. "
Another homage came from gospel actor Zoe Adeola, who wrote on X, " Rest in peace, Baba Gbenro. " Your work in Abattoir will undoubtedly leave us with fond memories of you. " So painful. "
Michael Adelakun, a colleague and founder of Paramount Ministry, revealed to the source, " He is deceased. Baba has been dealing with diabetes for a time. "
Adelakun, at press time, could not confirm the cause of his death.
Korede Are, popularly known as Baba Gbenro, was born on June 11, 1959. He grew up in Kano State, Nigeria, where he acquired part of his early education, subsequently studying in Plateau State, and transferring to southwestern Nigeria for higher schooling.
Following his schooling, he completed the National Youth Service Corps program in Jigawa State.
Baba Gbenro started Calvary Movies Drama Ministry, based in Ogbomoso, Nigeria, on September 2, 1995, and served as its International President. Through this ministry, he employed theater evangelism to spread the word.
