Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi-Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, has challenged Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, the running mate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate, John Mahama, to a public debate with NPP’s Education Minister, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh (Napo).

Speaking at a press conference, Chairman Wontumi dared Naana Jane to engage in an open debate with Napo so the public could judge their respective abilities and ideas.

"Let Nana Jane debate Napo for everyone to see," Wontumi said. "We are confident Napo will outperform her in any intellectual or policy discussion."

Wontumi’s call comes amid growing political tensions as the 2024 elections approach. The NPP and NDC are increasingly at odds over key issues, with Wontumi’s challenge adding fuel to the ongoing rivalry. It remains to be seen whether Naana Jane will accept the challenge and participate in such a public debate.
