Nairobi Family Dodges Tragedy As Massive Construction Blocks Crash Into Their Home
Nov 19, 2024
A 3- year- old child and their nanny had a miraculous escape from death after a large construction block fell into their home in Syokimau, Nairobi. The harrowing incident took place in the Muthama Heights Estate, where the child and their caregiver were in the bathroom when debris from a nearby construction site struck their house.
According to the child' s mother, Belinda Odhiambo, the stone that fell onto the bathroom was enormous. It crashed through the roof with such force that it could have easily claimed their lives. Thankfully, the child and nanny were in the right place at the right time, as they narrowly avoided the block' s direct impact.
Belinda, who spoke to Citizen TV, recounted the traumatic moment, describing the stone as " so big" and expressing her disbelief at the situation. " That stone was so big, it was so huge, and its impact on that bathroom only made me cry out loud, not because of what had happened. I was not crying because I was slightly injured, I was crying because God had rescued them from the jaws of death, " she said.
The incident has sparked concerns over safety at construction sites in the area. Residents have expressed their fears, highlighting the risk posed by nearby building activities, particularly when it comes to loose debris and falling materials. The block that fell onto the family' s home is believed to have come from a nearby building under construction, though the exact cause of the collapse remains under investigation.
