It Was Like We Never Existed To NPP Anymore After They Got What They Wanted From Us—Emmanuel Adutwum
Nov 20, 2024
Emmanuel Adutwum, the former Constituency Youth Organizer for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Ofankor, Greater Accra Region, has shared a deeply personal account of his disillusionment with the party after more than two decades of service. In a recent interview on Original TV, Adutwum revealed how the NPP exploited his efforts for 26 years and abandoned him once he was no longer deemed useful.
Adutwum, who had been an active polling station agent for the NPP since 1999, recounted his involvement with the party and his eventual decision to sever ties after the 2020 elections. One of the most striking elements of his story involved a government-backed program that promised job opportunities, but ultimately failed to deliver.
He described a training initiative for individuals like himself, who were told they would be part of the "Accra City Response Team" to bolster security in the capital. The training, conducted at the Bondase Peacekeeping Centre, lasted for several months and required participants to invest significant personal resources. "We spent millions of cedis on equipment and underwent intensive training," Adutwum said. "We were told we would be employed as part of a quick response team after the program. But when we finished, there were no jobs, and no one followed through on the promises made."
