Wakiso: Minister Alice Kaboyo Commends Buganda Youth Development Initiative
Nov 26, 2024
Minister Alice Kaboyo, the State Minister for Luwero Triangle, has commended the initiative of a youth group in Buganda’s Mpologoma Clan through which hundreds of young people have come together to transform their livelihood.
The Minister on Monday officially launched the Mpologoma (Lion) Clan Youth Trust. The initiative brings together over 400 young people who make up the youth wing of the Buganda clan.
The trustee, which was launched at the Clan headquarters at Lwadda Hill, Matugga, Nansana Municipality, Wakiso District, is hoped to instill the spirit of saving and investments in the clan youths.
Speaking at the launch Minister Kaboyo commended the Mpologoma Clan youths for their proactive approach to development, which she noted aligns with the government’s poverty eradication initiatives.
She urged the youth to remain focused on unity and peace, steering clear of divisive politics.
“I also call upon you to take advantage of the programs that the government has put in place. Currently, we have initiatives such as the Parish Development Program and Emyooga. Under the Ministry of Gender, programs such as the Youth Livelihood Program are also available to help provide funding for your development ventures. You should make use of them,” Minister Kaboyo stated.
Such programs, she said have had a great impact on communities across the country, owing to their ability to create sustainable opportunities, enable production, and solve both personal and communal challenges.
