Bona Mugabe Faces Court Battle as Secret Brother Claims Inheritance Rights
Dec 10, 2024
Zimbabwe is buzzing with excitement as news of Robert Mugabe's secret son has come to light, confirmed by DNA results that prove his royal lineage.
According to The Standard, a man named Tonderai Gabriel Mugabe has stepped forward, claiming to be the late former president's son.
Tonderai, now 47 years old, says his mother was Hilda Maeka, who had a relationship with Mugabe during the liberation struggle.
The revelation has sent shockwaves through the nation, as many had no idea of Tonderai's existence.
Tonderai's story began to unfold when he was arrested in 2015 for trying to enter State House to see his father.
Sources say that after this incident, Mugabe ordered Tonderai to be taken to his Kutama homestead to meet the family.
Chief Johhanes Karigamombe Mugabe, Robert Mugabe's younger brother, was present when Tonderai was introduced to the family.
When asked about Tonderai, Chief Karigamombe said, "I know him from his visits here, but there is nothing done traditionally on welcoming him."
He added, "There are many children who later come saying they are Mugabe's children but some are doing it so that they know their family line and some are for material things."
The chief's words hint at the complexity of the situation, as many have claimed to be Mugabe's children over the years.
However, Tonderai's case seems to have more substance, backed by DNA evidence and family testimonies.
