Liteta accident claims life of Lusaka youth on driving training
Dec 16, 2024
A TRIP to Kasumbalesa ended tragically for a 27 year old man of Lusaka’s Chunga compound after he died in a road accident yesterday afternoon on the Great North Road near Banani International School in Chisamba District.
The late Blessings Andrew Nsama, 27, was working for Big Tree Bererages in Lusaka as a General worker.
Reports indicate that Nsama, a bass singer in the school choir during his pupil days at Nelson Mandela Secondary School had plans of becoming more than just a general worker at his workplace and planned to become a driver.
So yesterday, he joined his workmate, Kelvin Banda, 32, a driver to allegedly learn how to drive, as he was travelling to Kasumba Lesa from Lusaka on a work trip using a Mercedes Benz Light Truck with Registration Number, CAE 6092.
Unfortunately, when the truck reached Chisamba around 13:00 hours, Banda failed to keep to his lane and collided with an oncoming Sino Truck in the opposite direction.
The impact of the collision caused the Benz Light Truck to further collide with a Toyota Wish, which was traveling behind the Sino Truck.
This saw the death of Banda and Nsama who both died on the spot.
The accident also claimed the life of another female passenger whose identity is yet to be known.
She succumbed to injuries upon arrival at Liteta District Hospital.
