That said, Netflix has released so many original action movies that it doesn’t even have time to make them good anymore, as evidenced by … Well, I won’t name names. (*cough* The Union *cough* Also Atlas *cough*) On the other hand, its most recent original action flick, Carry-On is making waves as one of Netflix’s most popular original productions in recent memory. In fact, it’s poised to become one of Netflix’s Top 10 viewed movies of all time. But does it also rank among Netflix’s 7 best original action movies of all time? Let’s see here…

Why we’re still talking about it: Though there are technically other Netflix action movies with higher Rotten Tomatoes scores, The Mother comes out on top due to its extracinematic significance. The Mother, along with 2022’s Marry Me, appeared to restart J.Lo’s dual career as a rom-com and serious action star, leading her headlong into a new storied phase of her career: Phase Oh No What Is She Doing. For that, we are grateful for The Mother.
