Continuous, secure backups for small businesses—with some feature constraints

Carbonite is an automated, business-focused cloud backup service designed to keep your data safe via encryption protocols supporting HIPAA, FRPA, and GLBA compliance. Its simple plans and easy-to-navigate apps make it a worthwhile choice for small business owners who want to create backups with minimal fuss. However, Carbonite doesn't include as much data storage as rival services, including Editors' Choice winner Acronis Cyber Protect. In addition, its limited mobile apps don't let you backup files created on your phone.

Carbonite Professional Plans and Prices

Carbonite offers three Professional plans for consultants, freelancers, and other small business owners (each covers 25 computers). The most affordable plan, Core, costs $24 per month ($287.99 annually) and includes 250GB of automated, encrypted cloud backups. The mid-tier plan, Power, is $66.58 per month ($799 annually) and ups the cloud storage to 500GB. The top-tier plan, Ultimate, costs $108.25 per month ($1,299.99 annually) and connects to unlimited servers. Like Power, the plan includes 500GB of cloud backups.
Want more than the relatively skimpy 500GB of storage? You must pay an additional $100 per year for every 100GB added to your plan. You'll almost certainly pay those fees using Carbonite across 25 PCs. By contrast, Acronis Cyber Protect has unlimited storage for Google Workspace and Microsoft 365 shops. iDrive's 25-device Business tier includes 1.25TB of storage and costs just $349.99 for the first year (and $499.50 annually afterward). You'd spend more than $1,000 per year to get an equivalent amount of cloud storage from the Carbonite Backup Ultimate plan.
