After pictures of empty shelves spread like wildfire across social platforms, particularly X (formerly Twitter), the company unleashed a powerfully worded statement that left no room for doubt. "It has come to our attention that there has been a surge of frenzied and speculative commentary circulating on social media platforms regarding the viability and going concern status of OK Zimbabwe Limited," they declared.
The company didn't just respond - they went on the offensive. "We assure all stakeholders, including customers, shareholders, employees, and partners, that our stores are open for trading," they emphasized, directly confronting the swirling rumors.
While acknowledging "intermittent product supply challenges during the festive period," OK Zimbabwe painted a picture of a resilient business navigating tough economic waters. "We are grateful to our supplier partners, bankers and other stakeholders for their support at a time when the Company, as well as most of the formal retail sector, has been adversely impacted by a volatile operating environment," the statement explained.
