AOL reviewed: The Technivorm Moccamaster coffee maker is worth the hype — and the price
Jan 25, 2025
I take my morning coffee routine very seriously — most days, it’s the first thing I do after getting out of bed. It’s not just about the caffeine for me, either (though that’s a crucial part of it). As a former barista and lifelong coffee lover, flavor and quality is paramount.
That’s why I refused to settle for just any drip coffee machine when I was choosing one for my wedding registry. There are plenty of drip coffee makers that are more budget-friendly, but they simply don’t hold a candle to the Technivorm Moccamaster. This Dutch machine brews coffee using a unique method that mimics pour-over — but without all the hands-on work — and in my opinion, it’s worth every penny of its high price.
While pricey, this stylish coffee machine is an attractive addition to any kitchen counter, and it also makes smooth, consistent coffee that tastes comparable to pour-over.
Pros

The Technivorm Moccamaster has been around since the 1960s, and the brand’s commitment to quality hasn’t wavered since then. Its Netherlands-based factory still produces and inspects every machine by hand, ensuring their products meet strict self-designated standards.
There are a few different iterations of the Technivorm Moccamaster. I own the KBGV Select, which is characterized by its glass carafe and ability to toggle between full- and half-carafe brewing. Moccamaster also offers thermal carafe brewers with stainless-steel carafes, single-cup brewers, and larger office coffee brewers.
