[SHOT 2025] Staccato's New HD 2011 Pistols with Glock Mags
Jan 27, 2025
Staccato has a new family of 2011-style pistols with some very interesting changes. The new HD series incorporates Glock-pattern magazines and a new trigger mechanism that is drop safe. But the changes don’t stop there, keep reading to see all the other tweaks.
The HD series is a departure from Staccato's prior 2011 in several ways. Unlike those guns, it uses Glock mags. Staccato includes two 18-round Glock-pattern magazines manufactured by Mec-Gar with the HD pistols. The HD pistols have also been tested with factory Glock mags as well as Magpull and both function correctly. Though they use Glock mags, which have a steeper angle than 1911 mags, the HD series keeps the 17.5-degree grip angle of other 2011 pistols. The grip feels a little different still, and that is because the grip safety found on other 2011 pistols is omitted from the HD. Both the manual safety and slide catch are ambidextrous, and the magazine catch is reversible.
Another design change is the trigger mechanism. Previously, Staccato used a Series 70 trigger mechanism to get the best possible trigger. But the Series 70 does not have a firing pin safety, and guns with that trigger mechanism across manufacturers have been known to fire when dropped. Staccato used a modified Series 80 in the HD to prevent this from happening.
