Former Patriots Star Auctions Off Super Bowl Ring For $88,000
Feb 9, 2025
The New England Patriots have won seven Super Bowl championships as a franchise, with the most recent title coming in the 2018 season. Two years before that, many believe that the Patriots were involved in the greatest game of all time, or certainly one of the great comebacks.
The Patriots famously erased a 28-3 deficit to defeat the Atlanta Falcons in Super Bowl LI, and one member of that championship team is looking to cash in on his accomplishment that night in Houston.
Former Patriots tight end Martellus Bennett sold his ring from that win over the Falcons for $88,125 at Hunt Auctions. He was the first starter and player from the game to sell his ring, which was played eight years ago.
Many fans believed the ring should have gone for more at auction, especially since it was the most significant ring of Brady's career. At the time, he was tied with both Terry Bradshaw and Joe Montana at four championships, and winning the fifth elevated him to the position of "GOAT" for many fans and analysts.
Brady would go on to win three more Super Bowls - two with the Patriots and then one with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, cementing his legacy as a serial winner and one of the greatest athletes in American history.
Patrick Mahomes can get to his fourth championship with a win tomorrow, but he'll have a few feathers in his cap when it comes to any comparisons with Brady.
