A surge protector can be versatile and help keep your electronics charged, like a power strip, but their primary function is to make sure that extra power can’t get through.

To test out these surge protectors, we picked six highly-rated surge protectors and tested them running a ton of devices all at once. These included a gaming PC, three monitors of varying sizes, a few lights, a docking station and a few other odds and ends. We tested each surge protector for at least one week (sometimes longer) to ensure the devices stayed on, and to get a sense as to how they worked on a day-to-day basis. Here’s what we found.
