Nuru Okanga Visits Ferdinand Waititu at Industrial Area Prison, Shares New Updates
Mar 2, 2025
Former Kiambu governor Ferdinand Waititu is currently serving time at Industrial Area Prison in Nairobi after being convicted of conflict of interest in a KSh 588 million case.
Was Waititu imprisoned and how is his condition now?
The ex-governor was found guilty of using a company owned by his family to secure county tenders fraudulently during his tenure.
As a result, he was sentenced to 12 years in prison or given the option to pay a fine of KSh 52.5 million.
Political aspirant Nuru Okanga recently visited Waititu behind bars and shed light on the former governor’s condition.
Speaking exclusively to TUKO.co.ke's seasoned editor after his visit, Okanga confirmed that Waititu is indeed at Industrial Area Prison and wearing the customary striped prison uniform.
"Waititu ako Industrial Area na ako na hiyo uniform ya wafungwa," he revealed.
According to Okanga, Waititu is coping with life in prison, but it has not been smooth sailing.
He disclosed that shortly after his sentencing, the former governor’s health deteriorated, and he was rushed to hospital due to health complications.
While he has since stabilised, Okanga noted that Waititu continues to experience health challenges.
"Aliniambia alikuwa hospitalini na akapewa madawa, na anaendelea poa," he added.
Okanga further claimed that there are forces working behind the scenes to interfere with Waititu’s case due to selfish political reasons.
