University of Michigan Health was ranked among the top 250 hospitals in the world according to a recent Newsweek list.

Newsweek and Statista have partnered to share their list for the World’s Best Hospitals 2025. This year’s ranking lists the best hospitals in 30 countries.

Over 2,400 hospitals were ranked this year, but the list highlights the top 250 hospitals worldwide. The University of Michigan Health ranked No. 47 on the list while Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota took home the top overall spot.

The countries on the list were selected based on factors like standard of living, life expectancy, population size, number of hospitals and data availability.

The ranking is based on an “extensive evaluation process,” which used an online survey of thousands of medical experts, patient experience data, hospital quality metrics and a Patient-Reported Outcome Measures Implementation Survey.

There are 13 Michigan hospitals that made a national ranking of the 412 top hospitals listed when filtering the United States of America. These hospitals include:

No. 88 - Henry Ford Hospital

No. 210 - Holland Hospital

No. 212 - Corewell Health Butterworth Hospital

No. 222 - Bronson Methodist Hospital

No. 225 - Beaumont Hospital - Grosse Pointe
