Arsenal and Mikel Arteta have been urged to “ignore social media” and stick by their head coach despite a section of supporters questioning whether the club have reached their ceiling under the 42-year-old. After turning the Gunners from a team struggling to get into Europe to one of the favourites for the Champions League, a lack of silverware aside from one FA Cup win in 2020 has counted against Arteta.
After Manchester City capitulated in the first half of the season, Arsenal were expected to step up and claim their first Premier League title since the 2003/04 Invincibles. That is now unlikely to be the case, with Liverpool holding a 13-point lead over second-placed Arsenal. Having been a member of the squad when the league title last was paraded in north London, Jeremie Aliadiere believes that Arteta is the man to take Arsenal forward.
"Ignore social media,” Aliadiere told Express Sport with bettingtools.com. “Arteta is the main to lead Arsenal forward. You look at what he has changed at the club, the positivity, the fanbase is more engaged.
“The recruitment has been very good. Arsenal are challenging for all major honours. Arsenal have been so close, but it’s getting over the line which matters and Mikel can do this.”
There is no indication that Arsenal are considering moving on from Arteta, but he has attracted interest from the likes of Paris Saint-Germain, Barcelona and Real Madrid as a result of stellar work in England.
