On sunny weekends there's nothing nicer for families than a day out to a farm shop with a play area for the kids to run about in. In the north west we have a wealth of award-winning farm shops to visit, many known for their array of local produce as well as freshly-cooked treats in cafes and tearooms.
Here, we have rounded up a selection of some of the best farm shops that also offer play areas in the region.
Most listed here are free entry, but some with the larger play areas and indoor playbarns have entry fees.
While we also have lots of brilliant farm parks and petting farms in Greater Manchester too, these are not included in this round-up unless they also offer a full farm shop offering as well.

Nixon's Farm Shop, Heald Green
When it comes to play areas, then Nixon's Farm Shop at Heald Green has to be the Big Daddy in Greater Manchester. It boasts a huge outdoor play area, as well as an indoor playbarn too.
Meanwhile the farm shop itself is much-loved thanks to the wealth of fresh meats and produce you can snaffle inside.
There's also TWO different tearooms - one next to the indoor playbarn, and another with indoor and outdoor seating next to the huge outdoor play area.
