Zimbabwe Government Spends Millions Renovating State House While Citizens Struggle
Mar 11, 2025
Harare, Zimbabwe – The official residence of Zimbabwe’s President, the State House, is undergoing major renovations, sparking public debate. The project, led by local businessman Tempter Paul Tungwarara through Paulos Construction, aims to restore the aging structure and bring it up to modern standards.
Big Changes to the State House
The renovations include a full facelift of the building, fixing old infrastructure, and improving security. A new precast wall is being built around the State House and Zimbabwe House to enhance protection. Over the years, the presidential residence had reportedly fallen into disrepair, and this project seeks to restore its dignity.
The first phase of the project has already been completed, giving the State House a fresh new look. The upgrades are also expected to make it more suitable for hosting official events.
Criticism and Doubts About the Project
At first, many people doubted whether Tungwarara and his company could handle such an important project. Critics questioned his qualifications and whether the job was awarded fairly.
However, after successfully completing the first phase, Paulos Construction has proven its capabilities. Tungwarara has thanked the government for trusting a local company with this task, saying he is committed to delivering quality work.
