Cabinet Secretary Justin Muturi’s Democratic Party of Kenya (DP) has issued a 30-day notice to exit the Kenya Kwanza alliance. Registrar of Political Parties Anne Nderitu confirmed that her office received the letter on March 12. This move signals a shift in his party political direction, as the party was initially part of President William Ruto’s coalition.

The decision to leave Kenya Kwanza comes amid growing political realignments, with various parties reassessing their positions ahead of future elections. The party exit could impact the coalition’s strength, especially if other parties follow suit. Muturi, a key figure in the alliance, now appears to be charting a different political path.

His departure follows his recent criticism of the government, particularly over abductions, where he blamed government officials. This has sparked speculation that he may soon be removed from his Cabinet position, adding another layer of political tension to his exit.
