The Essex farm where you can walk alpacas named among the best things to do in the county
Mar 29, 2025
It is a relatively budget friendly and unique experience
With the school holidays coming up, many parents are looking for things to do - with farms and zoos being popular choices in time for Easter! One experience is incredibly unique - and has also been listed among the best things to do in the county by Muddy Stilettos for 2025.
All Things Alpaca opened at Lathcoats Farm in 2021 in Chelmsford, and offers the chance to walk adorable alpacas! You can meet with their seven alpacas and walk them through the farm's beautiful orchards.
Alpaca walks are available to book for everyone over eight-years-old, while meet and greets and other farm experiences are suitable for younger children. Trekking with the boys, visitors have the chance to learn all about the alpaca and its history, whilst getting to know their alpaca and of course get lots of pictures for one hour.
The alpacas all have funny P-names - Pluto, Poncho, Pickle, Puzzle, Panda, Popcorn and Pedro. They all have different personalities, with some being more confident and others being more shy, but all love to go on a stroll!
In addition to alpacas, there are lots of other animals that can't wait to meet visitors at Lathcoats farm. There are guinea pigs, pigs, pygmy goats, shetland ponies (which only arrived at the farm last week!) and over the Easter period, you can even cuddle a baby chick.
