Mary Berry bashes her meat for the best results

Need a quick weeknight meal, which is tasty and simple to make? Look no further than Mary Berry's beef and pepper stir-fry.
The recipe from the Great British Bake Off judge and television chef, which can be found on the BBC Food website, takes under half an hour to prepare and 10-30 minutes to cook. Serving four, it's a perfect meal for a family who are tired after a busy day at work and school.
The website states: "Mary Berry bashes the steak for her beef stir-fry before cooking to tenderise it and then fries it as a piece (rather than in strips) for a more succulent flavour." Each serving of the dish provides 362 calories, 29 grams of protein, 46 grams of carbohydrate (of which 20 grams are sugars), 5.4 grams of fat (of which 1.8 grams are saturates), five grams of fibre and 3.1 grams of salt."
To begin, make a marinade by placing the following ingredients into a bowl and mixing together well:
Four tablespoons of soy sauce
Four tablespoons of sweet chilli sauce
One garlic clove, crushed
One heaped teaspoon of Chinese five-spice powder
One teaspoon of light muscovado sugar
One large lime, juice only
For the stir fry, using a meat mallet, rolling pin or the base of a saucepan, bash two 200 gram rump steaks to make them a little thinner. Sit them in a large dish and spoon over three tablespoons of the marinade. Leave to marinate while you cook the noodles.
