A Nightmare on Elm Street Reboot's Freddy Krueger Actor Trolls Fans With Fake Sequel Announcement
Apr 2, 2025
2010's A Nightmare on Elm Street is one of the most polarizing horror movie remakes, and that's not lost on actor Jackie Earle Haley. On April 1, Haley took advantage of the April Fools' Day fun by posting that he was returning as Freddy Krueger for a sequel to his reboot 15 years later.
Sharing an image of the poster for his Nightmare on Elm Street movie on X, Haley wrote, "As most of you already know... It's official: Warner just green lit NOES 2026. Super pumped and excited to don the glove again... 1, 2, guess who's coming for you..." Haley then wrote a comment on the post afterward to add, "April Fools."

Some fans did not immediately catch on that Haley was having some fun. While the 2010 version of A Nightmare on Elm Street has been heavily criticized, it is not without its fans, having garnered a bit of a cult following over the past 15 years.
