WHAT HAPPENED?
Wales international Lawrence was born in Wrexham before linking up with Manchester United at the age of eight and going on to make his professional breakthrough outside of North Wales.
THE BIGGER PICTURE
The 31-year-old playmaker has been in Glasgow since 2022, but is seeing his contract run down. A welcome return to form has been enjoyed of late, earning him a recall to Craig Bellamy’s Wales squad.
DID YOU KNOW?
Free agency will be hit this summer if no extension is agreed at Ibrox. According to the Daily Mail, several clubs are mulling over an approach for Lawrence. Wrexham, with Hollywood co-owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney calling the shots, are said to form part of that group.
TELL ME MORE
They will, however, face competition for the former Derby star from Burnley, Coventry, West Brom, Middlesbrough and Blackburn. Greek giants Olympiacos and PAOK are also said to be keen, alongside Turkish outfit Besiktas - who are now managed by Lawrence’s former United U21 boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
WHAT NEXT?
Fresh terms with Rangers have not been ruled out, with Lawrence a popular figure in the dressing room there, but the opportunity to return to his roots - if Wrexham secure promotion into the Championship - may prove difficult to turn down.
