Lord Of The Rings fans just realising Frodo had the Ring for way longer than we realised

Ring hogger!

The Lord of the Rings fans have realised that Frodo Baggins may have had the One Ring for way longer than we thought.
The One Ring is arguably the single most powerful entity in The Lord of the Rings, which is why Sauron is so hellbent on reacquiring it, no matter the cost for all those beings that live within Middle-earth.

When Bilbo Baggins discovered the One Ring in the Misty Mountains following an encounter with Gollum, the fake uncle of Frodo (they’re cousins) held the ring for roughly sixty years, which extended his life to 131 years before he passed away in the Undying Lands.
As for Gollum, he held the ring for much longer, discovering it in a Gladden River in his early 30s before he perished in the fires of Mount Doom at the tender age of just 590 (ish) years old.
Gollum (formerly known as Sméagol) held the ring for so long that not only did it prolong his life but also severely disfigured his entire body.
So, what about Frodo Baggins? How long did this beloved hobbit have the ring in his possession for before he destroyed it in the fires of Mount Doom in The Return of the King?
As shared on Reddit by Lord_Maldron (via LOTR wiki), Frodo held the ring for 17 years. Sure, that’s nowhere near the extent of Bilbo, but it was more than enough time to mentally scar Frodo for the rest of his days.
