How Brendan Rodgers’ ambitious ex-Celtic deputy has smashed EFL manager records with time to spare, future Hoops boss?
Apr 4, 2025
Celtic has seemingly become the perfect club for coaches and future managers to hone their craft.
There have been countless others who have left Parkhead to succeed in management having learned from the likes of Neil Lennon, Ange Postecoglou and Brendan Rodgers.
It is the latter who has mentored a new record-breaker in Birmingham City manager Chris Davies in his first job as his own man in the dugout.
Chris Davies has broken records at Birmingham since leaving Celtic
Davies has this week guided the Blues to a League One playoff spot at the very least with 11 games in the division still to play.
The club confirmed the news earlier this week, much to the delight of their fanbase.
With the club’s financial power in the league they’re in, the title has been a demand. But Davies has still met expectations so far after his side beat Bristol Rovers 2-1 at Memorial Stadium.
That took Brum’s record this campaign to 37 wins which is the highest number of victories they have ever achieved in a single season in their history.
Birmingham now sit 11 points clear of cash-rich Wrexham who are second but the leaders still have two games in hand over their closest rivals.
Davies is looking to the future with the top two teams in the division earning automatic promotion to the Championship which would likely have been the owners’ bare minimum demand this term.
