The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) is facing strong criticism from leaders over how teacher promotions were done. Lugari Member of Parliament Nabii Nabwera has warned that he may push for the commission to be removed if changes are not made.
He said the recent promotions were not fair and left out many deserving teachers. According to him, the process seemed to favour some areas while ignoring others with more teachers.
The MP raised concerns that some regions received the same number of promotions even though their teacher numbers are not the same. He said this kind of sharing is not fair and does not make sense.
He added that many teachers have worked for over 30 years without getting promoted. He feels that these teachers have been ignored for too long by the commission.

Nabwera also said he would suggest that Parliament stop giving more money to the commission if the issue is not fixed. He believes that no more public funds should be used if teachers continue being treated unfairly.
He said he is ready to take the matter to Parliament and ask for the commission to be disbanded. The MP also said the commission's top officials should explain how the promotion list was made.
The list of promoted teachers was released recently and had over 25000 names. It came after interviews that were done between January and February this year.
