Rob Cross has pulled out of his 'next few events' and has not put a timeline on when he could return to the oche. The 34-year-old says he is 'not feeling great' after a string of disappointing results. And it remains to be seen whether he will return for Night Ten of Premier League Darts in Manchester on Thursday.
'Voltage' was well beaten by Luke Humphries in Berlin on his last outing, which came two days after a disappointing defeat to William O'Connor at Players Championship 10, and three days after a shock loss to Haupai Puha at Players Championship 9.
Rather than plod into the International Darts Open in sub-par form this weekend, Cross has opted to sit it out altogether. The 2018 world champion said sorry to fans and organisers of the event, but left both hanging on the issue of when he will be back in competitive action.
He posted on X: "Sorry to say I’ve had to pull out of the next few events due to not feeling great. I apologise to the fans and PDC Europe as I always love playing in Germany. Hopefully I’ll be back soon."
Cross' slated opponent, Martin Schindler, has been given a bye into the second round of the European Tour meeting, which is being held in the German town of Riesa.
Exactly what Cross means by the 'next few events' is unclear. Two more Players Championship gatherings are scheduled in Leicester on Tuesday and Wednesday, before Premier League stars arrive in Manchester on Thursday.
