Speculation spread on Friday night suggesting that Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), had collapsed during a meeting and was initially rushed to the State House Clinic. Reports alleged that doctors at the clinic detected a high level of alcohol in his system, leading to claims that he had suffered a partial stroke.

Further unverified reports suggested that Wike' s condition deteriorated, prompting warnings from medical professionals that his health crisis could be irreversible, potentially leaving him unable to stand again. It was also rumored that he was subsequently flown to an undisclosed hospital in France for advanced medical care.

However, these claims were swiftly debunked by Lere Olayinka, Senior Special Assistant to Wike on Public Communications and Social Media, who dismissed them as baseless and labeled them as " fake news. "

Contrary to the circulating rumors, Wike made a public appearance in Abuja, where he attended a meeting of government ministers. His presence at the Presidential Banquet Hall in the State House on Sunday provided a strong rebuttal to the speculation about his health. During the event, Wike led a delegation to pay Eid- El- Fitr homage to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

At the gathering, which included lawmakers from the Federal Capital Territory, area council chairpersons, traditional rulers, and leaders from both Christian and Muslim communities, Wike delivered the opening remarks. Guests also presented greeting cards to the President, further demonstrating Wike' s active participation in government functions.
