McDonald's customers divided over new 'Nether Flame Sauce
Apr 7, 2025
McDonald's new Minecraft-inspired Nether Flame Sauce is dividing customers —some love it, others may never touch it again.
Released as part of the Minecraft Movie Meal, the semi-sweet sauce blends red peppers, cayenne, and hints of garlic for a fiery kick.
It's included in the meal, but can also be purchased separately for under $0.50.
Since its debut, the zesty sauce has received mixed reviews which have ranged from 'yummy' to 'what did I just eat?'
'Nether Flame Sauce tastes good, but F*** does it leave a hell of a burn,' an X user wrote.
'Yeah it's Nether Flame sauce alright. For all the wrong reasons,' another person responded.
Food critics echoed the intensity.
'I came in with full health hearts and left needing a mouth bath,' wrote food reviewer Michael Palan, advising fans to have soda, milk, or ranch dip on hand.
He went on to praise the sauce and advise fans to have soda, milk, or ranch dip to 'counterbalance' the back-draft.
Another food critic said felt like his tongue was on fire, even after drinking soda.
'This is the type of sauce that will result in some of the best social media content featuring friends daring each other to try it,' critic Rob Carroll claimed.
'But it is NOT a sauce for kids. And maybe its not a sauce for someone in their 40s either.'
Other staples include Honey and Spicy Buffalo, while limited-time offerings like Szechuan, Sweet & Spicy Jam, and Mambo have kept sauce enthusiasts on their toes.
