Nine Bodies in a Mexican Morgue Finale Review: Is a Body Bag the Best Place for This Disappointing Murder Mystery?
Apr 7, 2025
Nine Bodies in a Mexican Morgue should be a flawless murder mystery, but even now audiences will struggle. It has nothing to do with the story, which has shades of Agatha Christie without a Heriot Poirot, but something more fundamental. There has been no suspense across the five episodes, and this finale is no better. Anothony Horowitz might be a best-selling author, but Nine Bodies is not one of his better days. With no one left alive and body bags being hauled into a helicopter, audiences might think about getting their coats. After all, at this point, does it matter to anyone who murdered them?
If you happen to be Zack, it might, who was last seen falling off a mountainside having been shot. His wife Claire might care as well, since she is in Monterrey City on assignment for the DEA. For audiences who have made it this far, that urgency might be harder to fathom. Harder because this finale goes heavy on exposition since, obviously, people would rather be told plot twists than figure them out. In a show that has always struggled with the fundamentals of a murder mystery, does this finale have any redeeming features?
