Locals are buzzing with excitement after the cast and crew landed in the village
The heir to Slane Castle has said he hopes to put the iconic music venue "on the map globally" - as it hosts Ireland's version of The Traitors.
We can reveal filming for the RTE show has been taking place at Slane Castle and locals are buzzing with excitement after the cast and crew landed into the village of Slane on Monday, March 24.
Alex Conyngham, who is the son of Slane’s rock boss Lord Henry Mountcharles, said he hopes the show will present them in a new light.
"It will present us in a new light. It is a castle full of stories," he said.
"I think this is going to add another very exciting chapter to those stories. There's a huge global, not just international, global buzz, about this show, and I think it's going to be very exciting for our collective future."
He said showcasing the beauty of the castle will hopefully bring some international attention to the venue.
"Certainly. I think following my dad's legacy, we've always continued to evolve, and you have to be in an estate like this. And if we can find the right partners to do multiple things. We're always in place."
But he said his father, Henry Mountcharles was "amused" at first when he heard about the filming.
"He's amused. Yeah. I mean, we're still living here. Yeah, we're on the top floor. So, living in the middle of a film set is an unusual one. So, I grew up with a bit of that. You know, we did film stuff. I remember the Great Train Robbery here with Sean Connery and others as kids.
