Dennis William Quaid was born in Houston on April 9, 1954, to real estate agent Juanita and electrician William Quaid. He had two brothers, Randy and Buddy, who also became actors. At the University of Houston, Dennis studied drama but dropped out before graduation, opting to move to Hollywood to pursue acting full-time.

Dennis Quaid’s First Roles

He made his film debut with an uncredited appearance in 1975’s Crazy Mama and had small roles in 1977’s I Never Promised You a Rose Garden and September 30, 1955. In the late ‘70s and early ‘80s, his career picked up momentum with notable roles in Breaking Away and The Night the Lights Went Out in Georgia.
