‘I went from working in Ryanair to winning Big Brother, it changed my life forever’ – Irish star reflects on show fame
Apr 9, 2025
FORMER Big Brother star Brian Dowling has opened up on his memories of the show after winning it twice.
The popular presenter's career has gone from strength to strength since exiting the Big Brother house for the last time in 2010.
Before Brian helmed The Six O'Clock Show or hosted SM:TV, he was the king of reality TV.
The Kildare native lit up telly screens across Ireland and the UK in 2001 when he entered the second ever series of Big Brother.
After 64 days in the house, Brian emerged victorious and was crowned the second ever winner of the series, taking home £70,000.
However, that wouldn't be the last time viewers would see Brian on their screens or in Big Brother alone.
In 2010, Channel Four launched Ultimate Big Brother, an All Stars version of the show, which Brian again emerged victorious from.
Brian is the only UK housemate to have ever won the show twice, and even went on to present the series himself.
On Sunday, a new series of Celebrity Big Brother aired on Virgin Media, with 13 new housemates entering the social experiment.
The channel got Brian to reflect on some of his favourite moments from his time on the show.

The dad-of-two gushed: "My favourite memory was that first time walking down that walkway in to the house.
"There was no photographers. There was no nothing, we didn't think anyone was interested as it was the second season of the show, that's why walking in is so memorable."
