Gorka Marquez has said that he’s ‘excited’ as he made a big announcement and issued a huge demand to Strictly Come Dancing.

The BBC announced on Friday (April 11) that Strictly will be returning for its twenty-third series in the autumn.

One dancer confirmed to be taking part is Gorka, with the Spanish dancer joining the programme back in 2016.

Beginning dancing at the age of 12, Gorka, represented Spain in the World Latin Championships in 2010 and reached the semi-finals of the 2012 WDSF World Cup.

Since joining Strictly, Gorka has danced in three finals, with Alexandra Burke in 2017, Maisie Smith in 2020 and Helen Skelton in 2022.

In 2024, Gorka also appeared as a judge on the Spanish version of Strictly Come Dancing. Most recently, Gorka was partnered with Dr Punam Krishan, the pair were the fifth couple eliminated.

With Gorka yet to win the show, the dancer took to Instagram to express his excitement at being back on the BBC dancefloor.

“STRICTLY 2025. Excited to be back for my 10th Series! Let the countdown begin,” he captioned the post.

The popular dancer went on to make an early demand to the show’s costume department that will make long-term viewers very happy.

“Ps: @bbcstrictly get those PVC trousers ordered in every colour,” he teased.
