Shedeur Sanders’ Coach Delivers Blunt Advice to Buffs QB as Father Deion Clears Stance on Son Joining $5.5B Franchise
Apr 11, 2025
Everyone predicted that Shedeur Sanders would slide to the 10th or 15th spot in the 2025 NFL Draft. However, the Buffs QB’s stock is on the rise again. While Cam Ward is already making a strong case for the No. 1 overall pick, the buzz around Shedeur Sanders continues to grow.
Some experts claimed that none of the top 10 teams are seriously considering Shedeur. Now, those reports have been swiftly debunked. And now, as we edge closer to the NFL Draft scheduled on April 24, 2025, Sanders’ coach, Darrell Colbert Jr., has shared some key advice for his star quarterback. The coach who also trained Cam Ward dropped his two cents on the Rich Eisen Show.
The coach stated, “I think he’s one of the guys who understands coverages at a great level. I think that just goes from, you know who his dad is. He’s been learning coverages for a long time. He’s been around some guys who have taught him a lot, so he understands it. Shedeur understands the game from a whole different lens.” But when Tom Pelissero asked him about what are those things where Shedeur can still work upon, he didn’t surprise anyone.
Darrell Colbert Jr explained, “A lot of things he needs to work on, of course.” He further said, “It gets to a point where you know you’ve been sacked so many times and different things like that you want to be able to get the ball out a little quicker, different things like that. That’s a lot of things that he understands that going into the next level, going into the NFL, that he’ll have to change, that he’ll have to get better at.” And if we take a look at Shedeur’s stats, he was sacked a staggering 42 times last year.
