Dejphon Chansiri reveals major update on his Sheffield Wednesday future in Owls apology letter
Apr 12, 2025
Sheffield Wednesday owner Dejphon Chansiri has written a letter to Owls supporters, in which he has revealed he has no desire to sell the club.
The 56-year-old Thai businessman is one of the most notorious owners in English football, but largely for the wrong reasons given his handling of Sheffield Wednesday since he led a consortium that acquired a 100 per cent stake in the football club back in January 2015.
Chansiri bought the club for a reported £37.5m, and set a clear target of bringing Premier League football to Hillsborough Stadium. However, in recent years, the Owls have seemingly never been further away from the top flight than when he arrived.
Numerous off-the-pitch issues have plagued the club this season, such as a public communication breakdown over transfer strategy ahead of the winter window, and more recently, players and some staff wages going unpaid for the month of March - which has since been resolved.

Writing via the club's website on 12 April, Chansiri has penned a lengthy letter to Sheffield Wednesday supporters, in which he has apologised for recent issues surrounding the club, and has reaffirmed his long-term commitment as Owls owner.
Chansiri wrote: "I have decided to write this letter with respect and understanding of everyone’s feelings at this time.
