I Can’t Stop Wearing These Easy-to-Slip-On Kizik Sneakers That Are Comfy Enough for Miles of NYC Walking
Apr 12, 2025
If there’s one thing that makes me irrationally annoyed, it’s having to tie and untie my shoes every time I’m heading out or returning home. Especially when I’m running late, which is (unfortunately) often. I recently discovered a shoe that changes that: the Kizik Athens 2. I’m actually obsessed with how easy the slip-on sneakers are to get on and off, and they’re comfortable right out of the box, too. Snag a pair for yourself now.
The cool thing about Kizik shoes is their patented heel “cage.” Unlike the backs of typical sneakers, which tend to fold down when you try to slide your foot in, the cage compresses and bounces back to its original shape. At first, I was hesitant to press my foot down firmly when putting the shoes on, as I was worried the back would bend down. But I can tell you after wearing the sneakers multiple times, the heel rebounds just as well as the first time I tried them on.

While the sneakers are slip-ons, they feature laces on the front, giving them the look of regular tennis shoes. Plus, the laces can be adjusted if you need to loosen or tighten the fit. (The shoes also come in wide sizes if you need even more room.) I haven’t had any issues with the laces coming undone while walking, which is another pet peeve of mine.
The shoes have a breathable mesh outer, foam midsole, and arch-support insole for comfort. The removable insole is machine washable, too. With the rubber outsole that provides traction, you can walk all day without worrying about slipping. I live in New York City and do a lot of walking on a daily basis, and the Athens 2 sneakers were comfy from the first time I wore them.
