My dad has done a lot for the family - Jordan Ayew
Apr 12, 2025
Ghana international Jordan Ayew has expressed gratitude for the significant role his father, Abedi Pele, has played in his career and that of his brothers.
Ayew, who has made over 300 Premier League appearances, acknowledges the high expectations that come with being the son of a legendary player.
"It's not easy to come after your father in a sense of the expectations being so high back home and even in Europe," Ayew said.
However, he believes that he and his brother Andre have coped well with the pressure and focused on their own journeys.
Ayew also credited his parents for their support, saying, "My Dad has done a lot, for not only me, but my whole family." He hopes to continue making them proud, adding, "There's still more to come from us, and hopefully we can give them more moments to enjoy."
As the captain of the Black Stars, Ayew follows in the footsteps of his father, Abedi Pele, one of Africa's greatest footballers.
He and his brothers, Ibrahim and Andre, have all pursued careers in football, with Jordan and Andre having played for Olympique Marseille.
